Arctic Business var under tisdagen värd för det första Ignite Space-mötet i Sverige. Här möttes etablerade industriföretag och uppstartsföretag för att bygga en rymdindustribransch. Fem större industriföretag och 15 uppstartsföretag deltog på mötet som syftar till att utveckla samarbete mellan etablerade stora och nya små företag för skapa en växande rymdindustri. Ett av de deltagande företagen var Saab.
– Vi vill kolla upp vad det finns för möjligheter i rymden och spana in vilka företag som arbetar på området. Vi tror vi kan hitta underleverantörer och samarbetspartners här, säger Stefan Soika, chef för affärsområdet support och service på Saab.

M-Files har utvecklat program som hanterar information på ett effektivt sätt. Designtech Solutions jobbar med liknande lösningar, fast i mindre skala.

Ett av de roligaste uppdragen vi har i Science Park är att knyta kontakter och både introducera och berätta om de fantastiska företag och organisationer som finns här. Den här veckan hade vi nöjet att välkomna ett team från Knightec som hälsade på under en eftermiddag i samband med sitt besök i Luleå och på LTU. Dom fick bland annat träffa Future Ordering, ett av våra spännande företag i parken.

Swedish Space Data Lab, Artic Business and Innovatum Startup invite you to the Space Data Hackathon! The availability of large amounts of satellite imagery data through the European Copernicus project and open source platforms like the OpenDataCube (ODC) greatly bolsters the opportunities to apply classical machine learning and deep learning algorithms. These models can be employed to meet many challenges. One challenge often arising in the analysis of satellite data is that of cloud occlusion. Depending on the time of the year and the location of the Area of Interest (AoI) clouds can fully or partially cover the image and hamper the analysis. There are, however, many methods available for the estimation of missing data.
There are two parts to this challenge:
Part 1 in this challenge is to use the Swedish satellite data (provided through ODC) to train a model that is able to estimate certain statistics for an occluded area based on the information from the surrounding area, as reliably and accurately as possible.
Part 2 in this challenge is to develop a viable business case for the solution developed or from techniques utilsed to develop the solution. Team will be given a framework to follow for this aspect of the challenge.
The winning teams will be decided by a jury and they will receive the following:
● 12 000 SEK for the 1st place team
● 8000 SEK for the 2nd place team
● An optional coaching session to further develop the business case of the developed solution with ABI or Innovatum Startup
● The opportunity to have solution adopted by the Space Data Lab
Studien från IHS Markit visar att Facebooks europeiska datacenters har haft en betydande positiv påverkan på den lokala ekonomin. Genom investeringar, driftkostnader och direkt lön stimulerar våra datacenter ekonomiska bidrag som i sin tur bidrar till den lokala ekonomin i Irland, Danmark och Sverige.
Studien visar bland annat att:
– Mellan åren 2011–2018 stimulerade Facebooks datacenter i Luleå 21.8 miljarder SEK i kombinerade direkta, indirekta och framkallade försäljningsaktiviteter i Sverige, och drev 10.8 miljarder SEK av svenskt BNP.
– Den ekonomiska aktiviteten stimulerad av Facebooks datacenter i Luleå ledde till 4.82 miljarder SEK i arbetsinkomst och 1 461 jobb per år i Sverige.
– För varje 100 SEK spenderat på uppbyggnad och drift har Facebooks datacenter i Luleå lett till 93 SEK extra BNP, stimulerat i den svenska ekonomin.
– Mellan åren 2011–2018 har Facebooks datacenters direkt anskaffat utgifter som sammanlagt uppgår till 2.8 miljarder euro i varor och tjänster i Danmark, Irland och Sverige. Dessa utgifter har gett ytterligare 2.3 miljarder euro i försäljning och 2 816 jobb per år i de tre länderna.

Grepit is a high-tech development firm founded in 2014 with offices in Sweden (Luleå, Linköping, and Stockholm) and the US (Palo Alto, CA). Our team combines engineers within the fields of electrical engineering, computer science, and automatic control. Grepit develops solutions and products for a broad range of customers from different sectors (automotive, mining, smart buildings/cities, etc.). Our main focus is on embedded systems, high-speed data communication, FPGA programming, and PCB development.
Den 20 december förvandlades Luleå Science Park från en vanlig science park till ett riktigt tomteland då det var dags för Vilda Kidz årliga julklappsutdelning. Från hela Norrbotten kom julklappar som skulle förmedlas till över 1000 barn från länet. Ett stort julklappsberg och glada barn blev en fin avslutning på dagarna innan jul.
